Get dog walking clients

Build the first route where trust already exists

A dog walking business gets stronger when a few nearby owners book repeatedly. The goal is not to find every dog in town. It is to find the right safe dogs close enough to serve reliably.

Start warm

Ask the parent approved network before advertising to strangers

Family friends, known neighbors and community connections can produce the first dog introductions. A young founder should not meet an unknown customer or enter an unfamiliar home alone.

Meet before booking

Use the meet and greet to decide whether the dog is actually a fit

Meet the dog with the owner and parent involved. Ask about pulling, reactivity, escape behavior, triggers, leash or harness use, the normal route and emergency contacts. Rover also recommends an in person meet and greet before booking a sitter or walker.

Build repeat demand

A recurring Tuesday dog can be more valuable than five scattered one time jobs

Ask satisfied owners whether the same walk is needed every week. A small route with predictable times reduces travel and helps the founder build a reputation for reliability.

Ask for the next introduction

Turn a safe completed walk into a referral

After a good experience, ask the owner for a review or an introduction to another nearby dog owner. Keep the service radius tight until the founder has enough demand to justify expanding.

The first growth target is not more dogs. It is more of the right dogs.
