Clothing brand logo
Build a logo that still works when it is small, stitched or printed
A clothing logo has to survive more situations than a screen graphic. It may appear on a cap, chest print, website header, packaging card or profile image, so simplicity and consistency matter.
The job of the logo
Make recognition easier, not harder
A logo should help customers recognize the brand quickly. It does not need to explain every idea behind the business.
- Readable at small sizes
- Works in one color
- Strong enough for a shirt or cap
- Does not depend on tiny details
Build the system
Choose a wordmark, mark and two core colors
A first brand does not need a giant design system. A dependable wordmark, a simple icon or mark and a small color palette are enough to create consistency.
Test it on product
Mock it up before you make it permanent
Put the logo on a tee, hoodie and hat before deciding it is finished. A mark that looks great on a white page can feel too thin, busy or awkward on real apparel.
Stay original
Do not build the identity from another brand’s protected look
Use your own name, artwork and visual direction. Search for similar marks and names before committing to an identity that could be confused with an existing brand.
