Babysitting business names

Choose a name parents can remember and recommend

A good babysitting name does not need to sound like a giant company. It needs to be easy to say, easy to spell and reassuring enough that a parent feels comfortable sharing it with another family.

Start with the formula

Use one of these four naming patterns

The fastest way to get unstuck is to choose a naming pattern before trying to invent a perfect name.

  • Your name + Babysitting: Maya Babysitting
  • Your area + Sitters: Glenmore Sitters
  • A trust word + Care: Bright Care, Ready Care, Neighbourhood Care
  • A memorable image + Sitters: Firefly Sitters, Bluebird Sitters, Moonlight Sitters

Before you choose

Run the five second parent test

Say the name out loud to a parent or another trusted adult. If they can repeat it five seconds later and spell it without asking, the name is doing its job.

  • Avoid names that sound like a daycare or licensed child care centre if you are offering occasional babysitting.
  • Avoid personal details you do not want published, such as a home address, school name or birth year.
  • Search the name online before using it so you do not accidentally copy a local sitter or child care business.
  • Choose a name that still works if you later add evening care, after school care or pet sitting.

Make it yours

The name is only the first trust signal

Parents will care more about clear services, training, reliability and communication than a clever brand name. Once the name is good enough, move on and build the business around it.

Do not spend a week naming a business you could start today.
